What You Need to Know About Vented Seats Issue
If you own or work on a 2025 Polaris RZR Pro R or Pro R 4 Ultimate equipped with vented front seats, you may have encountered a frustrating issue: a Fault code C1147 or SPN: 517922-5 popping up on your 7” RIDE COMMAND display or instrument cluster.
Here’s what you need to know—and how to fix it. (see screenshots below)
🔧 The Issue: Chassis Fault Warning When Seat Fan Is On
Symptoms:
-
A triangle chassis fault icon appears on the display.
-
Fault code C1147 or SPN: 517922 is triggered.
-
This occurs when turning on the driver’s seat vent fan.
Affected Models:
-
2025 RZR Pro R Ultimate
-
2025 RZR Pro R 4 Ultimate
-
Only units equipped with vented front seats are affected.
🔍 The Cause
Polaris has identified the root of the issue as a VCM (Vehicle Control Module) calibration fault. This means the fan itself may function correctly, but the system is misreading the action, triggering a false warning.
✅ The Fix: VCM Calibration Update
As of October 15, 2024, Polaris has released a VCM calibration update that resolves this issue.
Solution Steps:
-
If the driver's seat vent fan turns on normally but the warning icon still appears:
-
Update the VCM software with the latest calibration.
-
Use the new VCM part number: 4083275.
-
-
If the fan does NOT turn on, follow the full diagnostic procedure outlined in Polaris' official Team Tip documentation.
🛠️ Tech Tip: Don’t Replace the Seat—Update the Software
We've seen some techs immediately suspect a faulty seat fan or wiring. Don’t waste your time or the customer’s money replacing parts unnecessarily. This is a software issue—start with the VCM calibration update.
📸 Step-by-Step Guide
We’ve included screenshots below showing exactly how to:
-
Access the VCM in the diagnostics tool
-
Apply the updated calibration
-
Confirm the warning is cleared
